Ganja-Gazakh economic-geographical region print

Ganja-Gazakh region locates in the west of the Republic and Goranboy, Samukh, Goygol, Shamkir, Tovuz, Aghstafa, Gazakh, Dashkasan, Gadabay, Naftalan and Ganja are administrative regions of the territory. Totally the area is 12.300 km2 with 9 cities, 16 urban type settlements and 3 settlements.
Relief: The landscape of the territory is mountainous (the north-eastern part of Less Caucasus, Jeiranchol, western part of Ganja Bozdagh chain and etc.). Ganja-Gazakh lowland prolongs along the right coast of Kura river. Garayazi plain locates in the north-western part of the region. The main peaks are Garnish (3724 meters) and Hinaldagh (3367 meters).
The sediments of Jurassic anthropogenic systems are prevalent in the territory.
The main rivers are Kura and its tributaries Aghstafachay, Akhincachay, Shamkirchay, Ganjachay and etc. There are a number of water reservoirs in the area. The western part of Mingachavir water reservoir concerned to the area. Goygol, Maralgöl are mountain lakes of the area.
Soils: Brown, brown-gray, brown mountain forest, cimli mountain meadow arc main soils of the area.

Vegetation and animals: Semi desert and dry steppe plants have spread in the territory. The total forestation of the area was 131.000 hectares in the 80th of last century. Subalpine and alpine meadows are useful for summer feedings meanwhile Jeiranchol and Garayazi plains prevalent for winter feeding usage.
There are Roach (Rutilus rutilus caspicus), Pike (Esox lucius), Kura Khramulya (Varicorhinus capoeta), Kura Barbeliir (Barbus lacerta cyri), Spirlin (Almurnoides bipunctatus eichwaldi), Danube Bleak (Chalcalburnus chalcoides), Caspian Asp (Aspius aspius taeniatus), Kutum (Rutilus frisii kutum) in the Kura River. 

Climate. Annual amount of solar luster is 2200-400 hours. According to the middle temperature of the coldest month, the severe of the winter for the area passes mild (2.5; 0°C), much milder (0-5°C) the mildest (5-10° C) and mild-cold (-10 - 15°C). Feasible evaporation for warm periods (April-October) is around 200-1000 mms. The minimum indicator of evaporation is 400-600 mm in Dashkasan and Gadabay meanwhile the maximum indicator is feasible in Samukh with 1000 mm. The number of arid days is wavering between 5-25 days between June and September months and the middle annual rate of the wind changes around 2 m/sec- ond and less. Continentalness of the climate changes around weak (less than 130), moderate continental (up to 160) and middle continental (up to 205) ranges. The length of unfrosted period during the year is 100-225 days or more, but the amount of days with temperature below 0°C is 10 -150 days where 10-50 days in Goranboy, Shamkir, Tovuz, Aghstafa and Gazakh, 10-20 days in Naftalan and Samukh, 20-50 days in Ganja and Goygol and 50-150 days in Dashkasan and Gadabay. The days with snow cover fluctuates between 10-40 days and less meanwhile it is up to 40-160 days in Dashkasan.
